Mirziyoyev and Aliyev visit historical Khiva

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited historical Khiva. A cultural trip was organised for the two leaders. Earlier, the Uzbek leader noted that the history of relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has created a solid foundation for multi-vector cooperation in modern times, and ancient Khiva has an important role to play, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

In Khiva, the leaders of the friendly countries visited the unique architectural complex – the Ichan-Kala city-museum. The historical area accommodates more than 120 ancient architectural monuments. On December 12, 1990, Khiva was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

A concert comprising folk songs and dances was performed for the distinguished guests. The joint delegation visited the Nurullabay Palace, which is located next to Ichan-Kala. The Palace is famous for being the venue for a large number of major political events in the early 20th century.
