Kazakhstan plans to promote cooperation with Georgia

On June 21, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, who is on a state visit to Doha, Qatar, held talks with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili on the sidelines of the economic forum. The interlocutors presented their positions regarding the promotion of economic interaction between the two countries, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Kazakh leader focused on expanding activities in some areas, emphasising the beneficial effect of boosting trade and economic exchange.

In this context, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said the subjects of Kazakhstan are able to increase the supply of goods to Georgia. He highly evaluated the potential of Tbilisi to export its goods to Kazakhstan and the Central Asian states. The President of Kazakhstan assured of the readiness to actively cooperate in this area.

The President highlighted the advantages of joint efforts in the transport and logistics sectors. In particular, he proposed to use the geographical “pluses” of the Kazakh harbours of Aktau and Kuryk and the Batumi Sea gates in a pragmatic format.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to the leader of Kazakhstan for the meeting and supported the intention to promote multifaceted cooperation. Irakli Garibashvili said he was going to visit Kazakhstan in the near future.
