The first-ever fortified flour factory in the country was put into operation in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan. Vitamins and micronutrients are added to flour in accordance with the Law on Wheat Flour Fortification, the press office of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan reported.
The launch of the factory was announced at the roundtable meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Government and the United Nations World Food Programme. The opening ceremony took place in Guliston city in Sughd Region.
The above industrial facility was put into operation by Kombinati Ordi Dushanbe LLC. Deputy Minister of Health Abduholik Amirzoda noted that flour is fortified with vitamins to prevent cretinism and other diseases in local populations.
As was reported, President Emomali Rahmon said the future economic situation in the country is unpredictable. He highlighted the problem of food price spikes and advised citizens to stock up on food.
