CNPC wants to strengthen cooperation with Turkmenistan

On June 20, in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Head of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Hou Qijun. They summed up the results of cooperation and discussed the prospects for mutually beneficial ties. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».

The head of CNPC expressed the interest of the Chinese side in expanding its partnership with the Central Asian state. Berdimuhamedov, in turn, noted that the corresponding relations can be characterized as dynamic.

They also discussed the vectors of future cooperation and exchanged views on the results achieved over many years of interaction in the oil and gas sector.

During the talks, emphasis was placed on the importance of developing fields in the Bagtyýarlyk area, the development of the second phase of the Galkynyş field, transportation of gas through the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-PRC pipeline, as well as the construction of the 4th branch of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.

Hou Qijun thanked Berdimuhamedov for his participation in the launch of the Gadyn gas-gathering station in Lebap province. The project was implemented with the participation of the China National Petroleum Corporation. Its cost is estimated at 280 million US dollars.
