Kazakhstan and IRI agree to use logistics capabilities

On June 19, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in a briefing after talks with IRI President Ebrahim Raisi during his official visit to Iran. The President informed journalists that the two states reached significant agreements on cooperation in transport, the press office of Akorda reported.

The President of Kazakhstan confirmed that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran at the present stage has transformed into strategic partnerships thanks to the decisive support of Ebrahim Raisi. Noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Kazakh leader highly evaluated the intensification of economic and humanitarian contacts.

Answering questions from reporters, the President of Kazakhstan noted that the high-level agreement on the full use of the transport and transit potential was a major achievement. The transport corridor that connects the north and south, west and east is of immense importance, the President of Kazakhstan emphasised.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev noted that a container train, which travelled from Kazakhstan across Turkey, had arrived in Iran. The leader of Kazakhstan described it as the crucial event in the current geopolitical situation. He expressed belief that the promotion of transport partnerships would give a significant impetus to bilateral relations, and the agreements reached in Iran would drive mutually beneficial cooperation.
