Turkmenistan to expand anti-corruption inspection

Turkmenistan will expand the fight against corruption, in particular by increasing the number of inspections of persons who work at the state agencies. The regulation on the conduction of the relevant activities was developed by the Ministry of Finance and Economy. It was reported by the press office of the Ministry of Justice.

The document involves verification of commercial transactions, the purchase and sale of property carried out by civil servants, as well as their relatives. Representatives of the departments that conduct investigations will receive more authority under the new regulation.

Commercial transactions will be monitored regularly. These activities are aimed at identifying those officials who own businesses or bank accounts in financial institutions abroad.

In May of this year, the Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan Batyr Atdaev reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the identification of several corruption schemes in the system of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations. After that, the head of the state instructed the military and law enforcement officers to intensify the fight against corruption.
