Uzbekistan and Italy to promote trade and economic partnerships

On May 27, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio, the press office of the Ministry reported.

A lively exchange of views on the prospects of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy took place during the meeting.

The parties noted positive dynamics of development of trade cooperation. For example, the number of joint ventures with the share of Italian capital in Uzbekistan has doubled, cooperation is expanding in such areas as the metallurgical, petrochemical, electrical, mining and building materials industries. In 2021, commodity turnover increased by 25% through the mutual exports of textiles, leather goods, food products, equipment, etc.

The interlocutors discussed the preparations for a series of bilateral business meetings, including the next meeting of the Uzbekistan-Italy Intergovernmental Working Group on Trade, Economic and Industrial Cooperation.
