Kyrgyzstan discusses future cooperation plans within SCO

On May 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming. The interlocutors discussed aspects of future cooperation and joint action plans for the current year, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Kyrgyz side noted that it attaches great importance to the activities of the SCO and confirms its commitment to enhancing cooperation among the SCO Member States in all areas.

Kulubaev highlighted the importance of implementing the decisions of the SCO Council of Heads of State, in particular the establishment of the Centre for Countering Transnational Organized Crime in Bishkek.

The interlocutors noted that the SCO provides a platform for active interaction in nearly all spheres, including security, cooperation in the humanitarian, cultural and education sectors, environmental protection and counteraction to terrorism and illicit drug trafficking.

It was noted that preparations are underway for the next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State, scheduled for September 2022.
