Tajik officials and businessmen from St. Petersburg discuss priority projects

On May 24, employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and representatives of the business community of St. Petersburg held a meeting in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan. The parties discussed key aspects of trade and economic cooperation, the press office of the Ministry reported.

Head of the Department of External Economic Cooperation Dilshod Sharifi represented Dushanbe at the talks. The guests were represented by Head of the Committee for External Partnership of the Government of St. Petersburg Arbi Abubakarov.

The participants noted that in January-April this year, Tajikistan and the Russian Federation traded a total of $476.5 million, which is almost 50% more than in the same period of 2021.

They discussed the prospects for setting up joint industrial enterprises and technology parks in the FEZ of Tajikistan and exporting fruits and vegetables through green corridors. Special attention was paid to the importance of opening wholesale distribution centres in the Republic.
