Flights between Bishkek and Urumqi to be resumed in June 2022

On May 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that following the talks between President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and PRC President Xi Jinping, with the support of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the parties agreed to resume regular flights between Urumqi and Bishkek, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The flights are to be resumed in June this year.

The Ministry reported that the authorities of Kyrgyzstan and China are to agree on the issues related to the resumption of regular flights between the two countries in the near future.

In February, Japarov and Jinping held talks on political, trade and economic relations between the countries.

The parties underscored the need to resume flights between the countries and increase cargo volumes in compliance with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. The interlocutors considered increasing the throughput of the checkpoints Torugart and Irkeshtam.
