Kyrgyzstan to boost film industry

On May 21, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov signed the Decree on the development and state support of Kyrgyzstan’s film industry. Foreign film companies will be attracted, and various films will be produced in the country, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Films, film serials and animated films will be produced. The film industry will become a separate branch of the economy. The financing of the film industry will be increased, and the necessary infrastructure will be created.

The document envisages allocating funds to train specialists in the industry. From 2023, the capital of Kyrgyzstan will host international film festivals on an annual basis. Students of the departments of cinematography will have the opportunity to receive a state scholarship.

The Kyrgyzserial Art and Production Association and the Cinematography Fund will be established. The necessary measures will be taken to create favourable economic conditions to promote the art of cinematography.
