On May 19, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They discussed five key areas of cooperation and paid particular attention to trade relations, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.
They noted that the friendship between the two countries meets the fundamental interests of their peoples. Commodity turnover between the two states has increased by 30% since the beginning of the year.
The interlocutors focused on the specific results of cooperation in such fields as border control, mutual trade, industrial cooperation and the implementation of transport and energy infrastructure projects.
As was reported, the talks were held in a friendly atmosphere.
On May 6, the border services of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan agreed not to shoot at random border crossers to prevent border incidents. The government delegations of the republics agreed upon the documents on border demarcation during the working group meetings in Bishkek.
