Tajikistan and Kazakhstan sign roadmap for inter-parliamentary relations

On May 13, Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev arrived in the capital of Tajikistan for an official visit. He met with Speaker of the upper house Rustam Emomali and President Emomali Rahmon. The roadmap for inter-parliamentary cooperation was signed during the visit, the press office of the Parliament of Tajikistan reported.

Dushanbe hosted the first meeting of the Standing Commission on partnerships of the upper houses of the Parliaments of the two countries. The ceremony of signing the roadmap for interaction between the Senate of Kazakhstan and the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan for 2023-2024 took place following the opening remarks of the heads of delegations.

The delegations held expanded talks. It was noted that commodity turnover between the two countries reached $1.1 billion in 2021, which is 30% higher compared to 2020.

The parties also agreed to expand military-technical cooperation against the backdrop of the difficult situation in Afghanistan. They also focused on the implementation of projects in the free economic zones of Tajikistan.
