Japarov signs decree to protect rights of local residents of Issyk-Kul Region

On May 13, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov signed the Decree “On the right of local residents of Issyk-Kul Region to access beach areas,” the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

“Today, many resort and recreational facilities (sanatoria, boarding houses, holiday houses and cottage settlements) located on the territory of the resort and recreational zone of Lake Issyk-Kul restrict access of local residents to beach areas by erecting various kinds of fences,” the report says.

The legal requirements that ensure free access of local residents to beach areas are often ignored.

With the aim to protect the economic and social interests of residents of local settlements, ensure their free access to beach areas and prevent possible negative consequences, the President ruled that local residents should have unrestricted access to beach areas.

In accordance with the Decree, local residents of Issyk-Kul Region will receive free access to beach areas from July 1 this year.
