Kazakhstan’s economy demonstrates growth rate of 4.4 per cent

On May 12, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a government meeting on the social and economic indicators of development and the implementation of the Republican budget in January-April, the press office of the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Minister of National Economy Alibek Kauntyrov presented the substantive report at the government meeting. He reported that Kazakhstan’s economy demonstrated a growth rate of 4.4 per cent in January-April. During this period, the real sector of the national economy demonstrated an accelerated growth rate of 5.1 per cent. Consistent measures taken to expand exports and enhance the performance of the services sector enabled to reach a growth rate of 3.4 per cent.

In January-April, the trade, construction, transport, communications, telecommunications, manufacturing, mining and agricultural industries demonstrated the sustainable growth rate. The rate of investment in fixed assets was 2.3 per cent.

Reporting on foreign trade relations, the Minister noted that over the past four months foreign trade jumped 45% to over $28 billion in total equivalent.
