Matvienko receives Order of Turkmenistan for contribution to cooperation

On May 12, Head of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko took part in the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and Russia, which took place in Ashgabat. She received a state award for merits in expanding Turkmen-Russian relations, as reported by the press office of the Russian parliament.

The head of the Halk Maslakhaty of Milli Gengesh (one of the chambers of parliament) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented the Order of Turkmenistan «For contribution to the development of cooperation» to Matvienko. It was done under the decree of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The official drew attention to the fact that Russia is interested in the comprehensive development of Turkmenistan, as well as in raising the level of security in the Central Asian region.

At the forum, Valentina Matvienko and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed an agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation. The head of the Federation Council laid flowers on the monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan.

Tomorrow, May 13, she will take part in the Dialogue of Women from the countries of Central Asia and Russia. The event will be dedicated to the role of women in public, political, social and economic development.
