President of Kazakhstan lays flowers at Otan Ana memorial monument

On May 9, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has taken part in the flower laying ceremony at the Motherland Otan Ana Monument to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

A minute’s silence was observed after wreaths and bouquets of flowers had laid down at the monument. The leader of Kazakhstan paid tribute to the memory of Kazakh warriors who perished on the battlefields during the Great Patriotic War.

The National Anthem of Kazakhstan, performed by the brass band of the Republican Guard, continued the solemn ceremony. The guard of honour marched in front of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, war veterans and home front workers. The Kazakh leader talked to the war veterans – the guests of honour of the celebrations in the final part of the commemorative event. They were addressed with the warm congratulations and wishes of good health, happiness and the peaceful sky.

The President of Kazakhstan has issued the Decree authorising to honour the Kazakh warriors with the posthumous highest distinction – the title of Halyk Kahrymany (Hero of the Nation) for bravery, unprecedented courage and heroism during the Great Patriotic War.
