On May 4, Head of the Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Media of the lower house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Saidmurod Fattokhzoda had a meeting with Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe Vuk Zugic in Dushanbe. They discussed the draft Media Code of Tajikistan, the press office of the Parliament reports.
The Media Code builds the legal framework for media activity and security, regulates relations in this area and the right to information and determines the legal status of participants in these relations.
Fattokhzoda emphasised that it took three years to draft the Media Code that had been revised based on feedback from media representatives from Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar and Kulyab.
The parliamentarian said an enabling legal environment in Tajikistan gives rise to an increasing number of new media that successfully complement the information space of the country.
The Head of the OSCE Programme Office provided assistance to the Tajik partners at all the stages of preparation of the document.
