Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova met with new Representative and Country Director of the UN World Food Programme in Kyrgyzstan Kojiro Nakai. She accepted the copies of letters of credence from the new representative of the organisation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.
The interlocutors discussed key aspects of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN World Food Programme.
They focused on achieving food security, distributing assistance to the populations in mountainous regions and ensuring that children in Kyrgyzstan have access to nutritious meals at school.
Kemelova underlined the importance of assistance from the UN World Food Programme in the development of Batken Region, in particular in the implementation of measures under the Regional Development Plan.
The WFP Representative and Country Director confirmed readiness to consider delivering assistance in the areas specified by the Kyrgyz side.
He also highlighted the importance of continuing implementing on-going projects in Kyrgyzstan.
