Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discuss prospects for cooperation

On April 27, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Minister of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic D. Amangeldiyev, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported.

The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan cooperation, particularly in the trade, economic, water and energy industries, as well as the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the Uzbekistan government delegation to the neighbouring state.

The issues under discussion included measures taken to enhance industrial cooperation in the motor and agricultural machinery industries. The key areas of economic partnerships between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan included transport infrastructure, particularly the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

Umurzakov and his Kyrgyz counterpart exchanged views on the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached following the 9th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation.

The parties agreed to arrange bilateral visits in the near future to discuss bilateral trade contracts and joint industrial projects.
