Dushanbe sees 8.6% increase in crime in January-March

In January-March, the number of criminal offences officially recorded in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan increased by 8.6% compared to the same period of 2021.  However, the crime rate decreased by 9.1% in the country as a whole, the press office of the Agency on Statistics of Tajikistan reported.

6,500 criminal offences were recorded in the Republic during the above period, which reflected a decrease of 591 crimes compared to January-March 2021. Khatlon Region, where crime dropped by 17.6%, has the lowest crime rate.

According to official statistics, the number of serious crimes decreased by 2.2% in the first three months of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021. Official statistics showed the clearance rate of 65.7% during the reporting period, which is 5.3% lower than last year.

As was reported, Speaker of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli Rustam Emomali instructed the Prosecutor General’s Office to strengthen measures to prevent involvement of Tajik citizens in criminal activities, as well as in armed conflicts in other states.
