Kazakhstan and Omsk Region of the Russia confirm readiness to expand partnerships

On April 19, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Governor of Omsk Region of the Russian Federation Alexander Burkov expressed readiness to increase mutually beneficial cooperation and promote good-neighbourly relations during the face-to-face talks, the press office of Akorda reported.

The talks focused on the aspects of cooperation in trade, machine building, transport and agriculture. The President of Kazakhstan emphasised that Omsk Region is one of the key participants in the framework of interregional cooperation of Kazakhstan.

The President stressed that bilateral trade exceeded $380 million. Kazakhstan is the major partner of Omsk Region where ethnic Kazakhs reside, which is of particular significance.

Noting that a large group of ethnic Kazakhs residing in Omsk Region serves as the linking element, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Alexander Burkov for paying attention to their needs and supporting their relations with their historical homeland.

The Governor said Omsk Region was ready to build up economic deltas with the companies of Kazakhstan in the agricultural, food and petrochemical industries and in the construction market.
