Dushanbe and St. Petersburg to sign cooperation roadmap

On April 12, Governor Alexander Beglov held a meeting with Ambassador of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation Davlatshokh Gulmakhmadzoda in St. Petersburg. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of aspects of cooperation, noting that the northern capital of Russia and Dushanbe would sign a roadmap this year, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

Beglov said Dushanbe will host a St. Petersburg cultural and business mission in May. The 2022-2026 roadmap on the implementation of an agreement between the executive bodies of state power of the northern capital of the Russian Federation and the capital of Tajikistan will be signed as part of the event.

The emphasis will be placed on expanding relations in the economic, health care, social, education and migration sectors. Russian doctors will share experience with their colleagues from the Central Asian country, as well as provide consultation to citizens of the country.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of increasing Tajikistan’s exports of agricultural, food and textile products to St. Petersburg. The Governor suggested opening a Trade House of Tajikistan in the northern capital of Russia, as well as developing joint school programmes on history and culture of the two countries.
