Uzbekistan implements social partnership project

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a roundtable meeting under the project “Strengthening social partnership in Uzbekistan and improving access of socially vulnerable populations to legal services in Andijan and Khorezm Regions”, in particular on the role of non-governmental non-profit organisations in providing access to legal aid for socially vulnerable populations, the press office of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan to CentralAsia.news.

The participants noted that access of various segments of the population, particularly socially vulnerable populations, to legal aid could be provided through raising legal culture and awareness of their rights and facilitating interaction of government agencies with civil society institutions and the media. Taking into account the proposals put forward during the meeting, it was decided to further expand collaboration between government agencies and non-state organisations and develop interaction mechanisms.

The participants represented the Committee on Women and Gender Equality of the Senate, the USAID Legal Reform Program in Uzbekistan, the State Committee on Women and Family Affairs and non-governmental non-profit organisations.
