Research project in Kazakhstan to be funded for 5 years

On April 12, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a working meeting with Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, who reported on the fulfilment of instructions given in the President’s Address and other tasks in the education and science sectors, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Minister reported on the initiatives to increase the responsibility of private children’s institutions to prevent violations of the legal rights of children and the measures taken to modernize the school concept and educational materials.

Reporting on the fulfilment of instructions given in the President’s Address, Aimagambetov said the Law On Science has been amended. More than 4,000 scientists who study humanitarian and exact sciences will receive a stable salary. The term of funding research projects is extended from 3 to 5 years. He said more than 2,000 young scientists have received grants worth 17 billion tenge.

The Minister reported on the measures taken to improve the scientific and practical work experience of the personnel. Every year, 500 specialists will enrich their knowledge at the major “temples of science” all over the world at the expense of the state.

Commenting on the report, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev instructed to raise the status of teachers, enhance the effectiveness of children’s education and provide all possible assistance to research centres.
