Tajikistan and Egypt to broaden exchange of experience in irrigation management

Ambassador of Tajikistan Zarobiddin Kosimi had a meeting with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt Muhammad Abdul Ati in Cairo. The interlocutors discussed key aspects of cooperation in artificial irrigation of waterless lands, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

Noting that the two countries could exchange extensive experience in water resource management, Abdul Ati highlighted the importance of drafting a memorandum of understanding that would involve all formats of bilateral cooperation.

Kosimi emphasised that in recent years Egypt’s water supply system has leapfrogged.

The interlocutors informed each other about the agreements under the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”, which Dushanbe will host in June 2022 and the 5th edition of the Cairo Water Week, which will take place in the capital of Egypt on October 16-19 this year. They paid particular attention to the work plan of the Water and Climate Coalition.
