SCO Member States discuss environmental issues in capital of Uzbekistan

Tashkent hosted the 6th Meeting of the Heads of Science and Technology Ministries and Departments of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) last week, the press service of the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan reported.

Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Natalya Bocharova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Kuanysh Yergaliev, Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Beishenaliev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan Abdukholikzoda Lutfiya Abdukholik, Minister of Science and Technology of India Jitendra Singh, Minister of Science and Technology of Pakistan Shibli Faraz  and Minister of Science and Technology of China Wang Zhigang attended The event.

Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to provide assistance in developing the Innovations for the Aral Sea Region Programme aimed at transforming the Aral Sea region into a zone of green zero-waste environmental technologies.

The Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan proposed the creation of the Flora of the SCO Member States digital platform that automatically recognizes the endangered and Red Data Book plants that grow in the SCO Member States.

The initiatives put forward at the meeting include the Green Energy joint research programme aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change and reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the 1st Digital Fair of Innovative Technologies of the SCO Member States and the establishment of an award for young scientists and specialists.
