Tajik economy demonstrates rapid growth

On April 7, employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in a solemn meeting in honour of the Day of Economist of Tajikistan. Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda addressed the participants with the opening remarks, the press office of the Ministry reported.

Zavkizoda emphasised that Tajik economy has showed impressive results. Over the past 20 years, the economic growth rate has reached about 7.5% per year. Over the past 19 years, from 2002 to 2021, GDP has increased from 3.4 billion somoni (over $272.3 million) to 98.9 billion somoni (approximately $7.92 billion).

The Minister noted that the economic growth rate reached 9.2% last year. This is the highest result over the past 17 years, which was confirmed by a number of international financial institutions.
The Minister emphasised that these results were achieved largely thanks to the wisdom of President Emomali Rahmon and his thoughtful instructions.
A number of employees received certificates of honour and medals during the meeting.
