Minister of Finance of Turkmenistan takes part in UNECE forum

On April 6, the Head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov and other representatives of the department took part in the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development online. He spoke about the implementation of the SDGs in the country. It was reported by the press office of the ministry.

The head of the department noted that a 30-year program for the development of the social and economic sectors was adopted in Turkmenistan this year. According to him, it uncludes the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

To date, the government of the Central Asian country has approved a list of 17 goals, 136 tasks and 180 SDG indicators to be implemented in the next few decades, he added. These are gender equality, sustainable education, conservation of the marine ecosystem and the environment, and cooperation in the field of sustainable development.

The Minister drew attention to the fact that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Turkmenistan has taken all the necessary measures to reduce the negative impact of the unstable epidemiological situation in the world on the national economy.
