Kyrgyzstan concerned by negative impact of international sanctions

On April 5, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev held an online meeting with the honorary consuls who perform their mission in foreign countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs positively evaluated the work done by diplomats, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Kazakbaev expressed gratitude to the honorary consuls for their important work. In particular, he noted their assistance in preventing the spread of coronavirus disease during the quarantine period in 2020, restoring villages in Batken Region and evacuating citizens of Kyrgyzstan from Ukraine.

The Minister noted that the consuls were tasked to protect the rights and interests of citizens and legal entities of Kyrgyzstan abroad, contribute to the implementation of the migration policy and ensure the presence of Kyrgyzstan in the countries where there are no consulates of Kyrgyzstan.

The Minister also discussed the potential impact of international sanctions on the national economy.

In this regard, he expressed hope that the honorary consuls would assist in promoting economic diversification of Kyrgyzstan.
