Tokayev receives report on technical accident at CPC

On April 5, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov, who reported on the measures being taken to respond to the modern challenges facing the industry and the new areas of development of the fuel and energy sector, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Minister reported on the key performance indicators of the energy facilities, as well as the measures being taken to respond to the destructive situation on the production site of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

According to local news media, in March, the load-bearing structure of the floating hose of the offshore berthing facility at one of the CPC production sites was deformed due to unforeseen inclement weather. The berthing structures were damaged. In this regard, the work has been temporarily suspended at some oil loading facilities until all the repairs are completed.

Akchulakov reported on the progress in finalizing the comprehensive gas industry development plan. This concept envisages revising the commercial gas prices to keep them affordable for socially vulnerable populations. It also envisages strengthening the resource base, building gas supply networks in the regions and modernising gas transport infrastructure of Kazakhstan.
