Japanese construction company to expand its presence in Uzbekistan

On April 5, a delegation from the Japanese construction company Shimizu Corporation consisting of Chairman Miyamoto Youichi and President Kazuyuki Inoue was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Dunyo News Agency reported.

The talks focused on the prospects for expanding long-term cooperation between Shimizu Corporation and the ministries and departments of Uzbekistan. The representatives of the Japanese company learned about large-scale transformations taking place in Uzbekistan’s social and infrastructure construction sectors and expressed readiness to share experience in the construction of facilities, such as railways, bridges, airports, industrial and residential buildings.

The Uzbek side expressed interest in studying Shimizu’s experience in the construction of multi-storey and non-standard buildings in seismic hazard zones. The representatives of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to assist in adopting Japan’s best practices at Uzbek construction companies.

The parties agreed that the Japanese company would consider the prospects of cooperation with the construction companies of Uzbekistan, as well as organising study tours of Uzbek specialists to study the best practices in Japan.
