Tokayev: trade with Turkey to reach $10 billion

On April 4, the leaders of Kazakhstan and Turkey Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged views on the development of multifaceted economic and political relations during a telephone conversation, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

The leaders of the two states exchanged congratulations on the holy month of Ramadan and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The interlocutors noted the positive dynamics of trade and economic relations. In this regard, the President of Kazakhstan highlighted the high importance of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion, and to $10 billion in the foreseeable future.

The President of Turkey expressed hope that the talks, which will be held during the   state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Ankara scheduled for May, will be fruitful. Turkey expects the future meeting to give new impetus to bilateral relations, Erdogan said.

The leaders of the two countries discussed modern geopolitical realities. In this context, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev highly evaluated the peacekeeping approaches of the Turkish leader to addressing pressing issues.
