Tokayev gives urgent instructions to Senate of Parliament

On March 31, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a working meeting with Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev. The senator reported on the current activities of the legislature, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Speaker informed about the outcomes of the anniversary meeting of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, which was held in Almaty to mark the 30th anniversary of the organisation. Ashimbaev reported on the preparatory work for the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held in September in Nur-Sultan.

Commenting on the report, the President emphasised the need for the upcoming forum to get the status of a multifaceted interfaith platform for constructive communication to tackle the most pressing problems of the modern world.

The Speaker also reported on the legislative activities of the Upper House aimed at the implementation of the key aspects of the Address to the people of Kazakhstan. In this context, the President set tasks of providing effective legislative support for the socio-economic reforms initiated in the country.
