A new city named after Al-Khwarizmi, a prominent Persian scholar of the early Middle Ages, who was born in these places, namely, in Khiva, will be built not far from the Urgench airport in this region of Uzbekistan. 110 hectares of land have been allotted for the new town.
The general concept of the town was presented in February this year. This time, the projects of each of the buildings and their functions were presented to the President for consideration.
The urban infrastructure will comprise residential buildings, kindergartens and schools, an IT park, a university, a sports complex and an industrial zone. It is planned to build a monument to Al-Khwarizmi and a green zone with walking alleys in the centre of the town.
On the instructions of the President, a special commission will be set up to manage the construction project.
