First Tashkent International Investment Forum enjoys success

On March 26, the First Tashkent International Investment Forum that brought together more than 2,000 representatives of business circles and heads of ministries and departments from 56 countries finished its work in the capital of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reported.

The programme of the investment forum included the thematic sessions and events on the economic and investment prospects of the regions of Uzbekistan and the main areas of Uzbekistan’s economic development, building on the mechanism for attracting investments and facilitating transnational trade.

The investment forum provided a platform for the 5th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia Intergovernmental Commission for trade, economy, science and technology, culture, sports and youth policy, the Uzbekistan-China Investment Forum “Industrial Cooperation. New Opportunities” and the Uzbekistan Country Platform for international financial institutions and foreign government financial organisations.

Following the forum, contracts and agreements worth US$7.8 billion were signed, and preliminary agreements were reached on the implementation of projects worth US$3.5 billion.

In the future, Tashkent will host the investment forum on a regular basis, since this year’s event has proved to be a convenient platform for attracting investments and establishing long-term economic contacts not only in Uzbekistan, but also throughout the Central Asian region.
