President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen sent a telegram of congratulations to his counterpart from Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, in which he specified the expected vectors of interstate cooperation. The telegram was sent on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported on March 25.
Bellen emphasised that the hydropower sector has become the key and very important area of partnerships between the two countries in recent years. He expressed hope that Vienna will continue to cooperate with Dushanbe in this sector.
He also noted that the countries should expand economic and cultural cooperation.
On November 6 last year, the local officials and businessmen held talks with representatives of business circles of the Republic of Austria in the capital of Tajikistan. The interlocutors highlighted the need to intensify cooperation in the energy sector, in particular in the renewable energy industry. More than 60 companies from the two countries attended the event.
