Umurzakov discusses prospects of investment cooperation with EBRD

On March 22, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the press office of the Ministry reported.

The talks focused on the further prospects of Uzbekistan-EBRD cooperation in such areas as support for small and medium-sized businesses, clean energy technologies, and investment partnerships.

Currently, 57 EBRD-funded investment projects worth 1.7 billion euros are being implemented in Uzbekistan. It is also planned to boost the EBRD’s presence in the regions of Uzbekistan.

The participants discussed preparations for the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, which will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, the agenda of which includes a session on the investment potential of Uzbekistan.

The EBRD is also ready to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan under the programmes aimed at promoting gender equality, as well as empowering women-led businesses through the Women in Business Programme.

The interlocutors discussed the expansion of investment partnerships in the mining, pharmaceutical, renewable energy and transport industries.
