Mobile UV disinfection units delivered to Turkmenistan

Within the framework of the United Nations Development Program projects, 281 mobile ultraviolet units for air disinfection were delivered to Turkmenistan. The devices will be sent to medical facilities in the country. It was reported by the UNDP press office on Instagram on March 16.

The projects are financed by the Global Fund and the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. UV units will be distributed among the hospitals, and sent to headquarters of the sanitary and epidemiological service.

UV disinfection is a broad-spectrum, non-chemical disinfection technology used in commercial, industrial, and healthcare settings for the inactivation of microorganisms. It can kill up to 99,9% of viruses and bacteria on surfaces without the use of harsh chemicals.

Earlier this week, medicines for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases arrived in Turkmenistan. They were purchased as part of a joint project between the Ministry of Health and UNDP.

As of March 17, the country has not recorded a single coronavirus case.
