On March 16, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev delivered the Message “New Kazakhstan: the Path of Renovation and Modernization” from the rostrum of the Parliament. The leader of Kazakhstan focused on the actions being taken to detect those involved in the January events and specified the deltas of political reforms and social and economic prospects, the press office of Akorda reported.
The President commented on the causes and consequences of the tragic riots at the beginning of the year. He noted that the investigation into the alleged coup of law enforcement officers and their accomplices continues at full drive and in secret. The President stated that all those involved in these events will be severely punished regardless of their high positions and social status.
Speaking about reform initiatives, the leader of Kazakhstan highlighted the crucial importance of remodelling the powers of the President towards the transition from the super-presidential concept to the presidential republic with a strong legislature.
In particular, it should be ensured at the legislative level that the head of state should not hold party membership while performing his duties, as well as the heads of regional administration and their deputies should not hold positions in the party branches.
