Government of Kyrgyzstan takes economic support measures

On March 16, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov chaired the first meeting of the Anti-Crisis Committee to respond to socio-economic challenges. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said the current global geopolitical situation leads to socio-economic risks, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Government reported that anti-crisis measures were taken, meetings with the civil and business communities were held and their proposals were incorporated in the document.

According to the press office of the Government, a new package of measures is aimed at ensuring food security, stabilising prices for essential goods, providing social support and employment opportunities for citizens, achieving financial sustainability and supporting entrepreneurs.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the price of granulated sugar has risen by 24.45 percent over the past week. 

On March 9, sugar price was 74.645 soms, on March 16, it rose to 92.89 soms.
