Bishkek and Tashkent aim to increase commodity turnover to US $2 billion

On March 11, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev met with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov on the sidelines of the 2nd Antalya Diplomacy Forum. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for expanding and enhancing bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic and investment sectors, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The ministers expressed readiness to continue joint efforts to ensure the further dynamic growth of commodity turnover and increase it to US$ 2 billion.

Particular attention was paid to the preparations for upcoming foreign policy events at the top and high levels.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of holding a regular meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the President of Kyrgyzstan in the border regions and khokims of the border regions of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan in the near future.

The ministers noted the dynamic interaction in electrical power supply from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan.

They also exchanged views on the current international and regional agenda.
