On March 11, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Chairman of the Board of JSC National Company QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov, who reported on the implementation of the President’s instructions to ensure the uninterrupted supply of commercial gas to the domestic market, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
Zharkeshov reported that a comprehensive gas sector plan had been launched. It envisages taking additional measures to strengthen the resource base and improving the gas transportation infrastructure of the Republic.
He also reported on the implementation of the President’s instructions to ensure transparency of procurement processes and forward-looking changes in the personnel concept of the National Company.
The issues under discussion included the anti-crisis agenda aimed at responding to potential challenges posed by geopolitical destabilization. The President approved the proposed solutions. He set a number of tasks, including a thorough audit and maximum transparency in the activities of the National Company QazaqGaz.
It should be noted that an unexpected two-fold rise in the price of liquefied gas that is the main fuel for car owners in Kazakhstan triggered the riots in Almaty and other parts of Kazakhstan in January.
