It was noted once again that Namangan would soon turn into a million-plus city during the presentation of the projects aimed at expanding the city of Namangan, in particular the second stage construction projects of the New Namangan township. Earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made this statement in his election programme. Today, the city is experiencing economic and population growth, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
According to the latest data, the population of the city has grown by 152,000 people, and its area has increased by 3,600 hectares in 5 years. Over 300 apartment buildings were built. Small industrial zones with an area of 145 hectares were set up, and 10,000 new jobs were created at the first urban expansion stage.
The second urban expansion stage envisages building 171 houses with 20,000 apartments and creating the New Uzbekistan Park.
Commenting on the New Namangan master plan, Mirziyoyev proposed once again to finalize it, taking into consideration the opinions and suggestions of apartment residents and future tenants, and gave instructions to create new jobs and develop the service sector in the new town.
The main construction aspects include road repair and drinking water supply in Namangan Region.
