Dushanbe and Baku sign inter-parliamentary cooperation agreement

On March 3, Chairman of the upper chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali arrived in Baku for an official visit, where he met with the President, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis and the Mayor of Baku. An inter-parliamentary cooperation agreement was signed during the visit, the press office of the Dushanbe Administration reported.

The leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Rustam Emomali. They discussed the creation of the Garden of Tajikistan-Azerbaijan Friendship in Shamakhi district to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the republics.

Rustam Emomali and Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the need to expand cooperation in the areas of mutual interest based on the strong legal framework comprising 59 documents, as well as the importance of intensifying the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation. Following the talks, an agreement on cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries was signed.

Mayor of Baku Eldar Azizov received the Chairman of the upper chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan. The interlocutors highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in the trade and tourism sectors. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a friendship city relationship between Dushanbe and Baku.
