Tokayev instructs to elaborate on anti-crisis concept due to situation in Ukraine

On February 22, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting of the Security Council on further social and economic development of the country against a backdrop of the unfolding situation around Ukraine, the press office of Akorda reported.

The Prime Minister, the heads of the National Bank, the ministries of foreign affairs and defence and other key government agencies reported on the current situation in the areas under their supervision.

The President highlighted the urgent need to develop and implement the anti-crisis concept of operational responses to the potential adverse consequences of the rapidly deteriorating international situation as a result of military-political factors and sanctions.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev gave a number of specific instructions to mitigate economic and other threats to the Republic.

On that day, the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia had a telephone conversation. Vladimir Putin informed his counterpart about Russia’s position on the Ukrainian problem.
