Rahmon highlights special place of EU in Tajikistan’s foreign policy

On February 22, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with a delegation of the European Parliament that arrived in Dushanbe for an official visit. The talks focused on inter-parliamentary cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

Emphasising that the European Union has a special place in the foreign policy of the Republic, Rahmon said the current level of EU-Tajikistan interaction is satisfactory.

The President noted that the European Union and Tajikistan interact most effectively in such areas as politics, economy, trade, investment, security and culture, as well as in addressing regional challenges.

The participants discussed the Afghan problem and joint efforts aimed at countering modern threats and challenges, as well as cooperation under the Border Management Programme in Central Asia and the Central Asia Drug Action Programme.
