Sardor Umurzakov meets with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On February 21, Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with President of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi during his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the press office of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade reports.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of aspects of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, transport, logistics and investment sectors and cultural and humanitarian exchange.

They noted that Uzbekistan and Iran have significant potential to increase commodity turnover and intensify partnerships in the investment sector, as illustrated by the steadily growing number of joint projects in various industries and continued interest of Iran’s business circles in the Uzbek market.

Promising areas of Uzbekistan-Iran industrial cooperation include building materials production, metallurgy, engineering, agriculture, light industry, medicine, as well as partnerships among subjects of special economic zones, such as Chabahar and Aras (Iran) and Navoi and Angren (Uzbekistan).

Discussing the prospects for building up cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, the interlocutors noted the importance of concerting efforts to create new, more profitable regional trade routes.

The Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed a number of issues of regional and international security of mutual interest.
