Delegation of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) arrived in Dushanbe for an official visit. It had a meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. The parties discussed the threats emanating from the unfolding situation in Afghanistan, the Khovar News Agency reported on February 16.
The parties exchanged views on the importance of effectively countering terrorism and extremism, in particular the threats emanating from political instability in the South Asian country bordering Tajikistan.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Saidnakhsh Rahmonzoda represented Dushanbe at the meeting. Head of the Department for Global Affairs and Regional Support Abdulaziz Ubaydullo headed the Interpol delegation.
The parties also focused on building up the potential for cooperation between the Ministry and the Interpol National Central Bureau. In addition, they discussed the possibility of technical assistance in tackling modern challenges.
