Tourism representatives from Turkic-speaking states meet in Samarkand

The tourism working group of the Organization of Turkic States held a regular meeting in Samarkand, the press office of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan reported.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format; the participants represented the ministries of tourism and sports of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The tourism representatives from Turkmenistan and Hungary took part in the meeting via videoconference.

The meeting focused on boosting the tourism potential of Kokand, announced the Turkic World Tourism Capital last year, as well as promoting cooperation in tourism among the Turkic-speaking states and joint cultural events, including exhibitions, fairs, festivals, national sports tournaments and meetings of scientists, historians and ethnographers.

The participants also discussed the list of events scheduled to take place in 2022 to mark the announcement of Kokand as the Turkic World Tourism Capital.

The guests visited the historical sights of Samarkand, including the Mirzo Ulugbek Madrasah.
